flying tips & Regulations

Flying Tips & Regulations

Between 2015 and 2020 Dimitrios Bogris was part of a touring act that went across North America, Europe, and Asia. In that time, the rules changed frequently with nothing truly standardized across airlines and countries. It was a challenge to fly with a carry on suitcase, $1500 in sound equipment in the suitcase, a Baglama and a Bouzouki. Since 2020 of course more has changed with airlines becoming increasingly cumbersome to deal with when carrying an expensive, odd shaped, fragile, finely crafted wooden musical instrument, let alone 2. A number of articles and websites will be cited below in due time with details on current regulations for major Canadian Airlines, answers to the questions below and more on how you can protect yourself navigating this environment.

Tips on approaching and communicating with kiosk personnel baggage handlers and flight attendants.

How does atmospheric pressure humidity and temperature in the plane affect my Bouzouki?

What should I do to prepare my instrument before I fly?

Where do I stow my bouzouki on the plane?

Damages compensation and declaration.

Best airlines for Musicians.

More to come... stay tuned.
